Responsibilities

Design a cooking platform that enables users to find and view recipes and tutorials. Explore and provide a solution that answers users needs to find an enjoyable, accessible cooking website.

Audio Engineer

Gabe is a audio engineer who works for Roc Nation. He spends half of his week working from home, and the other half heading into the office. He visits cooking tutorials every 1-2 times a week, and often times has difficulty with following directions that don't provide clear, concise steps.

Discovery

The discovery process is aimed at gathering information about the issues of current cooking websites, users experiences with previous recipes, and identify and analyze similar products that cater to users needs..

User Research

After finishing the discovery phase and analyzing the secondary research, I began to conduct user interviews from 4 participants that includes users with a wide range of cooking experiences. I had users answer 5 questions, and was done as an unmoderated usability study that allows the users to answer the questions on their own time via mobile.

Questions

- Can you tell me about a difficult time you had a tough time cooking from a recipe?

- What is the most frustrating part about finding a recipe?

- What are some thing you look for while looking for a recipe to make?

- If there is something you can include in a cooking website, what would it be?

- How often do you cook at home, and do you use a recipe every time?

Quotes

- "I was following a recipe and hate having to scroll up and down to view ingredients and directions."

- "What frustrates me about not finding a recipe is unclear imagery, and no alternative to read only recipes, which I dislike."

- "Other options to view a recipe would be nice."

- "It would be so cool to follow along with a celebrity cook or something!"

- "I don't use recipes online often, but when I do I love reviews from other cooks that helps me dictate whether to make it or not."

Next Steps

Incorporating new features to continue engagement.

There are a few features that can make Pure create more enjoyable user experiences. These features including fun cooking events with celebrities, and new products that can be ordered to cook with in the future.

Continue to develop interactions.

Pure does an excellent job finding recipes with helpful reviews and easy to follow directions. However, more interactions can be designed to create a better intuitive experience, such as a check-off system after completing a step in a recipe.

Feedback, feedback, feedback.

Continuing to receive feedback to make the user experience more simple and intuitive. I listen to every positive and negative feedback to help Pure be the go-to cooking website for all users.
